Earlier this week, I had the privilege of officiating a commitment ceremony. It was beautiful and intimate, with only me and the couple promising their lives to one another present.
It is a wonderful thing for people to publicly declare their relationship, and frequently, as in the case of the ceremony this week, it looks no different to the observer than any other wedding, and is emotionally and spiritually just as binding. The reasons a couple choose to have a commitment ceremony are very personal, ranging from having been in a previous marriage with a subsequent divorce was so emotionally taxing that they choose to not be in that same situation again, to having excellent reasons to keep finances separate (a widow(er) being able to continue receiving benefits on behalf of a late-spouse, college funding, staying below a higher tax bracket, one spouse having previously existing legal/financial issues that could harm the other spouse), to simply feeling that it’s inappropriate to give the government jurisdiction over the relationship.
If you feel that this is a step you may wish to take with your beloved, please reach out by DM, text/call to 602-663-0631, or email at [email protected].

The first major holiday after a separation or divorce can be challenging. Depending on the length of the relationship, many couple- or family-centric traditions may have been part of your past celebrations, and now they are missing. It can highlight the changes in your life, especially those sharing custody of children. Now is a great time to start new holiday traditions. Incorporating a day of self-care can be a wonderful to honor where you are.
If you are a person who enjoys socializing, make plans with other people who may not have family or a significant other, and do something fun and out of the ordinary. You may want to take this opportunity to explore hobbies that seem interesting. Crafting classes are available at many craft stores. Hiking, walking volleyball, or kickball clubs can help you move some energy in your body and hopefully make friends. Join a choir, a D&D campaign, take ballet or tap for adults, make a vision board, or find your local pottery painting store and go let your creative side express itself. Many adult benefit from learning how to play again. Many cities have a parks and recreation education department with low cost options available.
If socializing is too much right now, focus your attention on making your living space as comfortable as possible. Check out inspiration, like The Home Edit, or other organization sources and get ideas for making your space comfortable and reflective of your personality.

This is a great time to release anything that doesn’t add value to your life!
Have you heard of the belief that holding on to old possessions that you no longer use actually clutters up the energy you have to live your daily life? Release old possessions, beliefs, relationships that harm you or hold you back.

I had the joy and pleasure of pronouncing another couple as husband and wife this weekend! Shown are some gifts from the bride and groom. Their sweet puppy was one of their attendants, so they shared treats for everyone’s dogs!
