If we follow the political trends, and the flow of money in America we are harder press to justify the case of it demonstrating informed consent and enlightened self interest. Indeed the hits taken by most of us and the corrections needed to correct our losses are strongly our own failings on the executive and judical sides of our political system with two decades of turning control of function and oversight to the new protected blue bloods and mythic oliarchy who stand in for how we can get back to the way we were. Which is a never was fictional delusion about a more perfect yesterday and a wise attitudinal intellectual wisdom of perfect insight that never was. We need to act like responsible caring parents and get out of the idotic everything is find trust me "Here no evil, tell no evil, speak no evil, non thinking nonsense" we have been lapping up. Throw out the idiotic trickle down economics, start valuing a free rigorous, creative, and challenging press, seek to up our game and responsibility as we go for work on self improvement and valuing criticism and the opportunity to contribute and pay more taxes because of our productivity and self worth.
