ACTOR CHADWICK BOSEMAN DIES FROM CANCER AT 43
Film star, Humanitarian, Activist Chadwick died August 28, 2020 from Stage IV colon cancer.
Boseman was diagnosed back in 2016 with stage III and since then fought even as it developed into stage IV.
Boseman continued to work even as he went through numerous treatments and surgeries.
His death shook friends, family, Marvel fans and the black community.
His portrayal of T’Challa, the Black Panther, grossed over $1 billion dollars and brought Boseman news fans from around the globe.
"A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much," the statement read. "From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more -- all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T'Challa to life in Black Panther." - Boseman's publicist, Nicki Fioravante, told the Associated Press.
More than ever, the spotlight is on cancer in the black community and the importance of cancer screenings and prostate and colon checked regularly, which affects black men at a higher percentage than any other race.
As the black community and the Marvel family reel from his death, I hope that this beloved man’s fight urges fans to check in with their doctor.
Chadwick Boseman will forever be missed.
