Tips for Creating 'Reachable Moments' With Students

Common greetings, like 'How are you?,' may do little to create real opportunities for building relationships.
Science high school teacher Furahi Achebe shared tips on how to go beyond this reflexive greeting to create a ‘reachable moment.’
“A reachable moment is when a student and an educator of any sort are looking at each other eye to eye and having a casual conversation,” said Achebe. “Those moments empower our teachable moments because they create the relationship that drives education.”

ESE Evening Open House November 6, 6 - 9 p.m.
Earth and Space Exploration Evening and Open House is a free annual event hosted by the School of Earth and Space Exploration with their graduate students on the ASU Tempe campus each fall. This event is open to students ages five and up, families, educators, and anyone interested in Earth and space. Highlights include talks with scientists, interactive exhibits, 3D planetarium shows, and student science exhibits, plus stargazing with telescopes to explore the night sky. We hope to see you there!
