Yamash*ta-Temecula Check out our website at www.yamash*tamartialarts.com for more information along with a short video Instructors are personally certified by Sensei Yamash*ta.

At Yamash*ta Martial Arts, we offer a unique blend of the traditional arts, consisting of “Okinawan Shōrin-ryū Karate-do" (Karate) and "Matayoshi Kobudo" (weapons). We also offer the modern, and very intense, style of martial arts known as
"Suikendo," created by Grandmaster Hanshi Tadashi Yamash*ta (10th degree black belt). These arts are taught at the dojo through 4th degree Shihan Kelly Tovey and 2nd degree Sensei Tim Roach.

Nothing builds speed and focus quite like a well timed water break at the dojo. Now let’s test their speed and focus on some line drills 🤣💧

Every dojo has those two students. Somehow ours found each other. 😂🥋
You know the ones, individually they’re manageable. Put them together and suddenly the Senseis are questioning the entire lesson plan. 😂
They may test our patience almost as much as they test their karate skills but honestly, class wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining without them and secretly we look forward to their presence

Why did “Who wants to be in a dojo reel!” suddenly turn into a game of hide and seek? 😂 🥋
One second the Senseis were right there and the next? Gone! Suddenly everyone had somewhere VERY important to be 😉
Apparently years of martial arts training also teaches you how to disappear the second a camera comes out lol

Congratulations to our colored belt testers! They went out there and gave it their all. We’re proud of all of them. Can’t wait to start teaching them new katas and complexes 🥋

One minute the mats are empty and the dojo is quiet. Then class starts and suddenly it’s filled with students training, learning, laughing, working hard, and becoming a little more confident with every class.
Watching our karate dojo go from an empty training space to a room full of students will never get old.
We’re so grateful for every student and family who helps bring this space to life. 🥋

How students look before karate class ➡️ after karate class and then there’s the sensei who caused it 😂🥋
We enter the mat with focused faces, stretch, and ready to go. We leave the mat sweaty, sore, and tired (some of us still smiling though!). That’s what a good martial arts class will do. As our senseis always say work hard, have fun!
The real question is are they ready to do it all again next class? 😅

Congratulations to our karate competitors! They took to the floor at the annual Nikkei Games Karate Tournament in Long Beach.
Sensei Neil and students Eric, Regina, and Brie brought their A game and it showed. It’s never easy going out there but our passion for karate is what drives us. Keep showing up, giving your best, supporting your teammates, and walking away a stronger martial artist than you were before. 🏅
Sensei Neil placed 1st in kata and 3rd in weapons. Congrats to Brie on 2nd in kata. Eric received 3rd in kata and 2nd in kumite and Regina walked away with 2nd and 1st place medals in kata and kumite 🤜

Different belts. Different journeys. One dojo. 🥋
Every student who steps onto the mat is working toward something different. It can be their confidence, better focus, stronger technique, self discipline, or simply getting some exercise.
That’s what we love about Yamash*ta. Whether you’re stepping into our dojo for the first time or you’ve been training for years, there’s always something new to learn and another opportunity to grow with some of the friendliest people cheering you on.
We train together. We encourage each other. And we keep showing up. 👊🥋

Congrats to this weekends testers! Such a fun test to watch.
