At the last Temecula City Council meeting, I sat and listened to parents and kids from Toxin Free Temecula give public comment about pesticides and herbicides being used in our city parks. Their children stood at the microphone and explained, in their own words, what they need from the adults elected to represent them. It was one of the most articulate public comment sessions I have seen in this city.

One of the group's leaders is a Marine I served with, and that connection matters to me. So does the substance of what they are asking for: 48-hour advance notice before any herbicide application on city property, resident representation on the pesticide subcommittee, and a pilot program for organically maintained turf with one park in each district.

All service members are given a form DD214 upon their discharge from active duty. It shows a chronological record of their service as well as the character of their discharge.

Mine is publicly available right here and on my Instagram.

It is also required when applying for any benefits pertaining to service.

You should always question why someone seeking public office does not share their DD214, especially if they are proud of their service and shout about “patriotism” from the top of their lungs.

Chances are, there’s something they don’t want you to see!

My opponent claims to want to protect the innocence of children. It seems that he forgot to include himself in that endeavor. You can read about it on your own.

As for me, I’ve protected our country for 20 years from all threats. Some people talk a good game. Some people actually do the work.

Know the difference.

It’s the last weekend of summer break. From my family to yours, I hope you spent the Summer with the people you love, doing things together, and enjoying the well-earned rest. If you haven’t, take this as a reminder that you still have time. Make the days count.

Over the last three weeks, aside from school board meetings, I’ve spent over 20 hours in the community making myself available for everyone in Temecula to come ask questions.

I’ve already met so many great people doing this! When all is said and done, being available for questions and concerns is something I want to continue doing.

Yesterday I was at the Duck Pond rally against the powerlines. It was hot then too.
Showing up for this community isn’t a fair-weather thing. It doesn’t stop when the heat comes, when the fight gets long, or when it’s easier to stay home. You just show up. Every day. No matter what.
