This article is spot on. I have private students as well as group students who just don’t seem to get engaged in the lesson at all. I find it to be my responsibility to work on different approaches in an effort to get them engaged but ultimately the student has to commit to learning.

I haven’t posted for awhile but I came across this article in my email snd thought it was worth sharing. Not only is it important to practice slowly but it’s important to isolate difficult passages and break them down into manageable sections. So many students want to just play through their etude, solo, etc.
