Principal Valerie Walker says high school at Temecula Student Center looks different: students have voice and choice. Across four years, options are built so they leave with ownership, confidence, and a direction after graduation.

Junior Sebastian Valmez Perez walks through the Personalized Options Program — POP. Instead of juggling six classes at once, students take three per semester, with longer periods and more time with the teacher and the material. The year runs in six sprints. Same credits and objectives; the path can be groups, solo work, or a project that actually fits how you learn.

If you do not master it the first time, you do not just fail and move on. You revise the work and the understanding. CTE pathways and community-college classes sit alongside that. Journey already personalizes with POP courses, dual enrollment, and curriculum choice. The newest option is a classical pathway at the learning labs: English and history taught as one cohesive course, two teachers weaving the day, about two hours on each subject that still talk to each other.

Students read the great books, sit in Socratic seminar, and write essays that come out of the discussion. A novel brings its century with it; history class uses the same rhetorical tools as literature. Pillars are respect, citizenship, and the pursuit of truth, beauty, and virtue.

Education here is framed as a long conversation with ideas, not a stack of disconnected periods.
