The American Academy of Bookbinding offers a CODEX centered three-day celebration of the book! Together with Chip Schilling, AAB's Director, explore the International Biennial CODEX Book Art Fair, be treated to a behind-the-cover tour of 100 year old Arion Press, publishers of limited editions printed in their letterpress shop with one-of-a-kind collection of historic metal typefaces and visit Stanford University’s Rare Books Special Collection. This tour will be book-ended with dinners at Chez Panisse in Berkeley and Green’s Restaurant in San Francisco. Find more information via the link in our bio.

A Go-Go with AAB includes CODEX registration, Lunch on February 9 and 11, Dinner on February 10 and 11, Arion Press Tour and Reception, Local Travel from San Francisco to CODEX (Oakland) and San Francisco to Palo Alto (February 11) and departing Cocktail Reception.

Intro to Bookbinding students celebrated their instructor Brenda's birthday at the conclusion of their 6 day course! Happy Birthday ! AAB's updated 2026 course schedule is available and scholarship applications opened today. We hope to see you in Telluride at the Old Stone Building next year!

We're back from Standards Conference and thrilled to announce that Beth Redmond is our 2025 Diploma Graduate! Congratulations! It was lovely to have everyone together and see our bookbinding friend from the guild!

American Academy of Bookbinding has added an extra Intro to Bookbinding with Brenda Gallagher to our winter schedule! Our Intro classes fill incredibly fast, if you are new to bookbinding and ready to start your binding journey, this class is for you! December 1-5 offers an introduction to the fundamental building blocks of bookmaking. Each student will learn the fundamentals of bookmaking and gain an understanding of paper and paper grain, tearing and folding, cutting, gathering, and sewing. Brenda will also cover considerations of design, tools, materials and best practices to start your home bindery!
