Indigenous royalty sighting at SWAIA - Santa Fe Indian Market! 👑💪🏾♥️ It was an honor to meet Dania Wahwasuck, Miss Indian World 2025-2026. Ms. Wahwasuck is Anishnaabe and is from the Prairie Band Potawatomi from Mayetta, KS as well as Pyramid Lake Paiute from Sutcliffe. She is a Master’s student at the University of Kansas. Yesterday, I had a panic attack and got sick twice after working on my doctoral dissertation lit review on neurodiversity.

In February, a month before my 44th birthday, I was diagnosed with autism. In April, RFK Jr., the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services stated that…

“autism destroys families” and is an “individual tragedy as well.”

“And these are kids (autistic children) who will never pay taxes, they’ll never hold a job, they’ll never play baseball, they’ll never write a poem, they’ll never go out on a date. Many of them will never use a toilet unassisted.”

These statements do not describe my reality.

He calls for a registry for autistic people. As an Indigenous q***r scholar, history is clear that such information gathering is the first step to genocide. Meanwhile questions on the census ask about our children and their medications.

Always with family. ♥️💪🏾 I continue to work on my doctoral dissertation, train in BJJ, and have finished reviewing applications for an Indigenous scholarship. It’s a great start. My heart is full.
