We’re excited to announce that a few teachers formerly of Slice of Life School will continue Music (Piano/Guitar/Ukulele), Tutoring (K-6) and Little Sprouts Art classes at their location through the summer!

This post is for Little Sprouts Art – now in session or when your child(ren) want or need an extra activity!

Join in anytime, ages 5-10 on Tuesdays from 2:45 – 3:45PM and 4PM – 5PM. June through August!

Summer is about taking a break and NOT being as scheduled during the school year - arrive a bit late, stay a bit later. Monthly classes can be spread out over any 4 weeks (pending availability). Easy Peasy!

$100/month per student for 4 one hour weekly classes
$ 75/month for each additional family member (siblings/cousins)
$28 Drop-In Rate ($25 for each additional family member (siblings/cousins)
Materials Included.

Note: Paintings will take a few classes to complete.

What an exciting and creative weekend!! If you were not able to stop by our Open House on Saturday to see all the inspiring entries from our 2024 Youth Art Contest, they will be on display all this week during school hours in the Gathering Room. Stop in and be inspired by the artistic talent of Tehachapi's Youth!!

It was an exciting afternoon at Slice of Life as 3 members from the Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Society judged over 30 entries in our 2024 Youth Art Contest for ages 5-18.

Tehachapi has serious young talent!! Winners will be announced tonight at the private Judging & Contest Reception for all entrants and their families.

The winning artwork and all entries will be on display tomorrow afternoon from 2-5PM at our Open House, where everyone is welcome. We hope you can stop by.

This Friday, October 4th kicks off our October monthly Science series, where students will learn about "Earth Sciences."

FRIDAYS – 10AM – 11:30AM

SESSION 2: OCTOBER – Earth Sciences
Students will learn about our atmosphere, the Periodic Table, rocks and minerals, earthquakes and different forms of energy.

Classes are for ages 9-12 with an investment of $155/Month for one student. Each class is 90 minutes per week and consists of rotating sessions ~each covering various, fascinating aspects of the physical universe!

November and December will continue with "Astrophysics!"

Aside from exploring several concepts through hands-on projects/activities, students will be provided with workbooks for each class. Assistance with the writing portion of the class will be provided if needed. Please have your child bring a snack. Materials are included.

We are proud to partner with the Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Association for their inaugural ‘Youth Art Contest,’ open to young artists ages 5-18.

Youth from Tehachapi and surrounding Kern County areas are invited to showcase their creativity in any flat media, such as oil, acrylics, watercolor, colored pencil, pen and ink, graphite, charcoal, mixed, etc. Please no 3D artwork, photography or digital art.

Key Details:
• Entry Deadline: Friday, October 11th at 5 PM
• Age Categories: 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, and 14-18
• Prizes: $400 in cash prizes will be awarded across age groups
• Submission Limit: Up to 3 pieces per participant

The event will conclude in a Judging and Contestant Reception on Friday, October 16th, from 6-8 PM at Slice of Life Enrichment School, 48771 W. Valley Blvd., Tehachapi.

All artwork, including the winners, will be on display during an Open House on Saturday, October 19th, from 2-5 PM. Earlier that day, the school's Annual Fall Recital will take place from 10 AM – 2 PM, showcasing the musical talents of students. The public is invited to attend both events.

Slice of Life kicks off our new Monday weekly Science series this Monday, September 9th!

Choose from 3 exciting topics to discover the world of Science!!

Classes are for ages 9-12 with an investment of $155/Month for one student, per topic. Each class is 60 minutes on Mondays.

MONDAYS
Literature & Science – 9-10AM
Children will explore several science concepts with hands-on, project-based science experiments that tie in with the themes of a fun and engaging children’s book, read each week.

Magic Science – 10:15-11:15AM
This fun and engaging class will cover basic Physics and Chemistry concepts. The experiments will stimulate your child’s curiosity and imagination. This class will require students to illustrate and write a simple sentence about the reactions observed. Writing is not a requirement but it will be encouraged.

Engineering with Recycled Materials - 11:30-12:30PM
Students will tinker to create fun projects using recycled materials. Please note that the number of projects taken home will vary based on the complexity of the projects selected by the student. Some projects may require 3 classes to complete.

Aside from exploring several concepts through hands-on projects/activities, students will be provided with workbooks for each class. Assistance with the writing portion of the class will be provided.

Our first monthly Science series on Fridays begins this Friday, September 6th covering various, fascinating aspects of the physical universe!

September Series: “The Human Body”

Topic: This series will explore the digestive system, kidneys and brain. The session finishes with a group dissection of a sheep brain.

Monthly Investment: $155/Month for one student.

Ages: 9-12

Day: Fridays

Length: 90 minutes per week

Time: 10AM – 11:30AM

Aside from exploring several concepts through hands-on projects/activities, students will be provided with workbooks for each class. Assistance with the writing portion of the class will be provided if needed. Please have your child bring a snack. Materials are included.

SESSION 3: NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 6 – Astrophysics
We will study astronomy and physics, which means learning about the sun, moon, stars, orbits (space) & motion, heat and forces like gravity & electricity (physics).

Aside from exploring several concepts through hands-on projects/activities, students will be provided with workbooks for each class. Assistance with the writing portion of the class will be provided if needed. Please have your child bring a snack. Materials are included.
