When looking at different preschool/kindergarten readiness programs for your child, ratio matters.
When classrooms are packed to fill seats the care each child receives downgrades. For ages 2 and older in a preschool center the ratio is 1 adult to every 12 children.
This is my 28th year working in early childhood development. I started working in centers in 1998 where I was the lead teacher of a two year-old classroom and the ratio was
1 to 12. 
I want to be clear that centers can be good even with higher ratios like this, but when a child attends an early childhood program and is able to get one-to-one attention daily, it makes a remarkable difference.
Here at Little Sprouts Preschool Tehachapi we are dedicated to keeping our ratio at 1:6.
1 adult for every 6 children.
We pride ourselves on the care each child gets. Children are not just numbers here. They are a part of our Little Sprouts family when they attend and after, far into the future!
Lastly, as a preschool teacher and owner, if I was looking for a program for my child, the top 5 things I would look for are:
1-Licensed(always ask to see their license)
2-Ratio of teacher to students
3-Who has access to my child each day.(you’d be surprised!)
4-Safety/Cleanliness
5-Discipline/Parent Communication
