More beautiful creations from the explorations in basketry series. This class was working with pine. “It was like visiting with an old friend,” said one participant, which is exactly what it feels like. So many parts of this tree are gifts to us basket makers (and medicine makers and wood workers). So much to be grateful for and so many peaceful, joyful and nostalgic feelings arise in its presence. Next basket making opportunity at weave wild is a ribbed basket! This is my all time favorite basket and my first time offering this project in a stand alone class! It incorporates vines, willow, various different barks and more, making a relatively large and very functional baskets with beautiful colors, patterns and textures.

Amidst our first snow storm, a sweet group of us gathered to weave with willow, mostly working to create asymmetrical baskets and touching in on how this shape offers some reflection and metaphor of our personal journey.

For me the empty space between the structural walls seems to speak to the way my patterns (of protective behavior) seem to be in complete contradiction to my deep desire (for community and belonging). And with any/all weaving projects, there always seems to be an opportunity to witness how perfectionism shows up and surrender to the embrace and grace, to allow for acceptance, forgiveness, learning and gratitude.

As always it was so wonderful to gather with others, share food and weave baskets. Thank you and for joining me.

Was a wonderful weekend teaching two one day workshop, the only ones I’ve had all year because I’ve been inundated with the series classes. Teaching season is winding down, two more classes left before I go into hibernation mode.

Half way through our Willow series! Small baskets weekend was a great success! Woven into the experience was some really beautiful and vulnerable sharing, lots of rain, sweet baby sounds and holding, laughter, exhaustion, excitement, learning and gratitude. And over 26 baskets were completed!

It happening again! A 2 day Felted Rug Workshop

Saturday June 21 10-5 & Sunday June 22 10-2, 2025
Come spend the weekend working with the fleece of a sheep from Brandon’s farm and experientially learn to transform raw wool into a beautiful felted rug. This simple, chemical-free way to process wool directly from a sheep is a brilliant technique for making beautiful pieces of felt that resemble a sheep skin, with relatively low labor, energy and water inputs.
