Welcome to BFMS…. A village of Houses: Unbuntu, Shakti, Salaam, Esperanza, Tikkun and Sophia built on the principles of BELONGING, RESILIENCE, PEACE, HOPE, SERVICE, and WISDOM where all things align perfectly. Today we welcomed Desi Okeke Desi Okeke for our Week of Respect kick celebration to strengthen our student population and encourage them all to make the best of their decisions and lives. Students and staff also felt at home in their PJs as they navigated the day. #

🎙️ WHAT’S TRENDING AT BFMS? 🎧

Today, we officially kicked off the BFMS Podcast Club, and the energy in the room made one thing clear: our Bulldogs have something to say!

Students from across BFMS came together to learn about podcasting, content creation, interviewing, storytelling, production, and—most importantly—how to amplify their voices.

But today was only the beginning!

Moving forward, our student creators will work together to:

🎙️ Develop original podcast ideas and segments
🎧 Learn interviewing and hosting skills
📱 Explore responsible content creation and social media
🎥 Build skills in audio and video production
📰 Highlight BFMS students, staff, alumni, programs, and events
🌎 Discuss topics that matter to young people and our community
💡 Turn student ideas into authentic digital content

Our goal is bigger than simply creating a podcast. We’re creating another space where students can lead, collaborate, create, ask questions, tell stories, and be heard.

There is some serious talent walking the halls of BFMS—and we can’t wait to put the microphones in their hands! 🎤

Stay tuned… because BFMS is about to be ON THE AIR! 🎙️🔥

BRIGHT FUTURES: DRIVEN BY EXCELLENCE!

Today, our students brought a little extra energy—and some much-deserved coffee—to the amazing staff who keep BFMS moving forward every single day!

A group of students from P.A.W.S., joined by some of their 8th-grade peers, delivered coffee to classrooms throughout BFMS as a small gesture of appreciation for the educators who pour so much into our young people.

A special thank you to JJ for helping our students understand that excellence is not only about what we achieve—it’s also about how we serve, encourage, and uplift others.

And to our incredible BFMS staff: THANK YOU! Your energy, commitment, patience, and belief in our students are what make their bright futures possible. Every lesson taught, relationship built, word of encouragement given, and extra effort made moves our Bulldogs forward.

🏁 The destination is BRIGHT FUTURES.
🔥 The fuel is PURPOSE.
💪 The standard is EXCELLENCE.
🐾 And together, BFMS keeps moving forward!

Bright Futures: Driven by Excellence.

A community of educators is a community of ❤️. Great week, again, at BFMS as we concluded our Scholastic book fair, hosted our first Back to School Night, celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month, solidified our leadership team for the Benjamin Franklin Middle School PTA, hosted a Math workshop by our District Math Coach zainabu, receive an award for our push for bike safety and ended with Kona Ice coming to BFMS. Lots of fund raising in the pizza sale, popcorn sale, and of course, the book fair. So many parent volunteers, student (THS) volunteers, and yes, staff/teacher volunteers to support this great work. As we enter week 5… what will happen next? Thus is BFMS… it’s the culture!

We are excited to welcome our entire Bulldog community to Back-to-School Night tonight! This is an opportunity to come together, hear about the exciting work happening at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, meet our incredible staff, visit classrooms, and learn more about how we are supporting, challenging, and inspiring our learners.

Our evening begins at 7:00 PM in the BFMS Auditorium. Families will then follow their child’s A-Day schedule to experience their school day, meet teachers, hear classroom expectations, and learn how we can work together to support student success.

There is much more happening throughout the evening! Visit and join the BFMS PTA, stop by our Scholastic Book Fair, and connect with community partners Never Alone Again and the League of Women Voters. Our food service partner, Maschio’s, will also be here to connect with families and share information.

Back-to-School Night is about more than schedules and classrooms—it is about strengthening the partnership between home, school, and community. Our families are essential partners in everything we do.

Come out, connect with us, ask questions, meet the people who work with your children every day, and get caught up on all the great things happening at BFMS!
