AC Career Academy --Day 4
From healthcare skills and crime scene investigations to designing mock Mars landers, our CTE campers had an action-packed day exploring the Health Science pathway and beyond!

Students stepped into the role of healthcare professionals as they learned how to take pulse and respirations, practiced medical terminology, and identified bones throughout the human body.

Then it was time to put their investigative skills to the test! A huge thank you to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office for leading an exciting hands-on forensics lab simulation, where campers got a glimpse into the world of crime scene investigation and forensic science.

The day also included a challenge that's out of this world—students designed and built mock Mars landers in preparation for their upcoming visit to the Catawba Science Center.

From patient care to forensic investigations and space exploration, campers experienced firsthand how science, technology, and problem-solving connect to a wide variety of careers.

What an incredible day of learning, discovery, and future career exploration!

AC Accelerate U--Day 3
Cooking, collaboration, and career readiness made for another great day with AC Accelerate U!

Students participated in a two-part Cooking 101 experience led by Mrs. Amanda Marshall. The day began with a fun twist on Chopped, where students watched a brief episode and then created their own challenge by planning dishes they will prepare and present during next week's Parent Night.

Along the way, students gained hands-on experience with food safety, recipe reading, food preparation, and presentation skills—valuable lessons that extend far beyond the kitchen.

Next, it was time to put those skills into action! Students worked in teams to prepare a Taco Bell copycat Cheesy Gordita Crunch and delicious mini cheesecake cups, following recipes from start to finish and enjoying the opportunity to share the meal they created together.

The afternoon focused on future success as students prepared for upcoming interviews and continued working toward industry credentials through Conover Online.

From the kitchen to career preparation, these students are building confidence, developing life skills, and taking important steps toward a successful future!
