Day 3 of MDA Orientation = hands-on learning at its best! 👩‍⚕️🩺

Today our students put their clinical skills into practice by:
💉 Practicing insulin injections
🩺 Taking blood pressure measurements
🫁 Learning NG tube placement techniques
🧪 Exploring testing for cholesterol, LDL, and HDL levels
🗣️ Hearing from a speech-language pathologist from the University of Utah

From building technical skills to learning from experienced healthcare professionals, every session brings our students one step closer to becoming confident, compassionate clinicians.

We’re excited to see all the knowledge and skills they’ll continue to gain throughout the program! 💙🤘

Today, we officially welcomed the USU MDA Class of 2026! 💙🥑

From meeting classmates and faculty to hearing from alumni, learning how to thrive in graduate school, and sharing our first meal together, today was all about building connections and laying the foundation for an incredible year ahead.

Orientation isn’t just about getting organized—it’s about becoming part of a community that will challenge you, support you, and celebrate you every step of the way.

While our current MDA students are putting the finishing touches on their master’s projects and preparing to graduate, our faculty are hard at work behind the scenes. This summer we’ve been:

📚 Getting everything ready to welcome our newest MDA cohort
📝 Finalizing orientation (it’s right around the corner!)
🌍 Leading an unforgettable study abroad experience in Greece with Nikki and Lacie

Summer is one of our busiest seasons—but it’s also one of our favorite times as we celebrate one class while getting excited to welcome the next.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Dr. Martha Archuleta.

Martha was more than a respected professional, she was a mentor, a collaborator, and a friend who had a profound impact on those around her. She generously shared her knowledge, encouraged others to grow, and always made time to support others. We are better educators, dietitians, and leaders because of her guidance and friendship.

Beyond our work together, we shared a love of the outdoors, adventure, and lifelong learning. She encouraged work life balance and loved hiking, camping, skiing, Paddleboarding, the beach and most of all sunsets.

Her passing is a tremendous loss to our profession and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. While words cannot fully capture the impact she made, we hope to honor her by extending the same kindness, mentorship, and compassion that she so freely gave to others.

Thank you, Martha, for believing in us, for challenging us to be better, and for your unwavering friendship. Your influence will continue through the many lives you touched.

You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
