Today I painted a new residents nails at work and as we were going over colors, she mentioned she wanted clear. The only thought that came to my mind was "CLEAR?! That's no fun." I asked her why she wanted clear and she said, "My hands are ugly, I don't want to draw attention to them." I then carefully responded with, "Your hands tell the story of your life. They tell the story of love, of care and adventure. These hands have touched and held things that most people can only wish to one day." And with that, she went with the color pink for her nails.
Sometimes what we are so insecure with, others find beauty in. 💖

"I wouldn’t say that saying “good job” is bad as much as that it isn’t enough. There either needs to be more to the response or there needs to be a completely different response. Whenever a child comes to me and says, “look at my drawing Mrs. Stewart,” I need to realize that the words I choose to say have the power to build confidence, foster growth, promote learning, encourage thinking, inspire and motivate but it’s going to require a little thought on my part to get there."

PARENTS NIGHT OUT IS BACK!

Parents- mark your calendars, and enjoy a night out while the Sleepy Hollow Recreation Staff takes over.

Drop your kids off in their Halloween costume at the Sleepy Hollow Senior Center on Friday, October 14th at 6pm.

There will be pizza, snacks, music, animals, cupcakes, a movie, a take home goodie bag!

*You must pre-register for this event. First 50 kids to sign up.
$20 for first kid/$10 other siblings... GRADES K-5
