What a GREAT day for BLI! 🚌💙

Today, students from all three BLI Community School campuses—Tarpon Springs, Clearwater, and Pinellas Park—came together for a field trip to the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks! 🧽🌊

We visited the Sponge Museum, where students learned about the history of Tarpon Springs and the incredible natural sponge beds that helped shape this unique community. Afterward, we enjoyed a beautiful walk through the Sponge Docks before ending our adventure with an AMAZING lunch at Rusty Bellies Waterfront Grill! 🐟🍟

A very special THANK YOU to Rusty Bellies for generously providing our students with a delicious meal completely FREE of charge! Your kindness helped make an already special day even more memorable for our students. ❤️

🌱👩‍🍳 Culinary Arts was a HIT today! 👨‍🍳🍠

Today, our young chefs got to the ROOT of healthy eating! 🥕🥔 Students learned about root vegetables, explored the health benefits of sweet potatoes, carrots, turnips, and potatoes, and practiced important kitchen skills along the way.

📓 They also put their new Chef Journals to work—documenting what they learned as we continue building the connection between food, health, science, and real-life skills.

🍎 Apple slices

🎂🍓 A Sweet Day in Culinary Arts! 👩‍🍳✨

Today our culinary artists put their skills to work baking a special cake to celebrate our August birthdays! 🎉💛

We made a delicious strawberry cake with vanilla icing, topped with plenty of colorful sprinkles! 🍓🍰🌈

Nothing beats learning, creating, and celebrating together! 🥳 We’re so proud of our students for bringing a little sweetness to the school day. 💕

📚🎾 Time to Explore A Community Where Kids Can Thrive.

One of the things that makes BLI Community School special is the way our model creates space for both strong academics and meaningful opportunities for students to pursue their interests.

Our students work hard and engage deeply in their academics, while our schedule intentionally leaves room in the afternoon for them to explore activities they enjoy, develop new skills, build friendships, and discover new passions.

Today was a great example of that balance as we welcomed new students into the BLI community. We worked hard on and off the court, building skills in the classroom and then getting outside for some tennis, movement, and fun. 🎾☀️

We believe childhood shouldn't require choosing between academic excellence and having time to be a kid. At BLI, we're building a school experience that makes room for both.

🌻 Day 2 at BLI Community School! 🐝

We’re officially getting into the swing of things, and Day 2 was full of learning, creativity, and a very special surprise! 💛

📚 ELA: Our students stepped into the world of bees and wrote about what it might be like to be a bee returning to the hive after a break. Talk about a unique perspective! 🐝✏️

➗ Math: We kicked up our math fluency with some fun, fast-paced drills designed to build confidence and sharpen those skills.

🔬 Science: We dove deeper into our bee unit by learning new vocabulary, exploring the different roles within a bee colony, and discovering the stages of a bee’s life cycle.

🏫 Community & Leadership: To wrap up our academic block, students got to choose and assign their own BLI Community School roles—giving them an opportunity to take ownership of our school community and contribute in meaningful ways.

🫏 And then came the surprise!
Just when we thought lunch was going to be the usual lunch…we were greeted by a VERY special guest—a baby donkey from our petting zoo partner! 🥹💛

Day 2 reminded us that learning doesn’t always happen behind a desk. Sometimes it happens through writing, teamwork, curiosity, leadership…and occasionally a baby donkey at lunchtime! 😂🫏

We’re only two days in, and we’re already building something pretty special together. Here’s to Day 3! 🌱🐝

More and more families are seeking a non-traditional school. They are looking for a place where their child will be known, supported, and challenged.
