There are some people you meet who remind you just how much is possible.

Having the opportunity to spend time with Sheila Johnson was one of those moments for me.

She is the founder and CEO of Salamander Collection , co-founder of BET, an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and a woman whose accomplishments could fill an entire book on their own.

But what stayed with me most was the reminder of what can happen when vision is paired with courage, resilience, and the willingness to keep building.

I am incredibly grateful for the rooms I have been blessed to enter, the people I have had the opportunity to meet, to mentor me, that believe in me and the examples I get to witness along the way.

There is so much power in proximity.

In seeing possibility up close.

In being reminded that the ideas in your head can become businesses, brands, experiences, opportunities, and eventually a legacy.

Grateful for this moment.
Grateful for the reminder.
And very grateful that I still have so much left to build. đź’ś |

In event design, luxury is rarely defined by one grand element.

It is found in the way every detail works together.

The texture of the materials.

The quality of the printing.

The placement of the signage.

The balance of color, scale, lighting, and space.

The way the guest experience feels intentional from the moment they arrive.

A beautifully designed event does more than look impressive.

A CLIENT SAYING “I WANT TO BOOK YOU” DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE BOOKED.

Let’s talk about your client booking process.

When someone reaches out, do you immediately start answering questions, sending ideas and creating quotes?
Do you collect all of the event details first?
Do you ask for their target budget?
Do you explain your minimum investment?
Do you send a formal proposal?
Do you require a signed contract and payment before reserving the date?
Do you give the proposal an expiration date?
Do you have a process for changes, revisions, approvals and final confirmations?

Because sometimes the problem is not the client.

Sometimes the business simply does not have a clear process guiding the client from inquiry to officially booked.

Nobody talks about this enough…

Somewhere along the way, I realized I had built a successful business…

…that I wasn’t enjoying business or life fully anymore.

Not because I didn’t love creating.
Not because I wasn’t grateful.

But because I had slowly traded my peace for productivity.

So I made four decisions that completely changed the way I run my business.

Not to make less.
Not to work less.

To live more.

Here are the four changes that changed everything:

✨ 1. I stopped saying YES to everything.
Not every opportunity is the right opportunity. Protecting your time is just as important as making money.

✨ 2. I built my business around the life I wanted, not the other way around.
My calendar now reflects my priorities instead of everyone else’s expectations.

✨ 3. I stopped chasing revenue and started focusing on profit.
Being busy isn’t the goal. Building a business that actually creates freedom is.

✨ 4. I started creating more of what genuinely lights me up.
When your work energizes you instead of draining you, everything changes, including the quality of what you create.

The biggest lesson?

Peace isn’t something you find after success. It’s something you intentionally build into your business along the way.

Because what good is building your dream if you’re too exhausted to enjoy it?

Success isn’t just measured by revenue.

It’s measured by how often you laugh.
How well you sleep.
How present you are with the people you love.
How much peace your business gives you instead of taking it away.
