Mrs. Golden loves teaching because she gets to witness those special “light bulb” moments when a learner realizes, “I can do this!” 💡❤️

She is passionate about sparking curiosity, cultivating a love for reading, and most importantly, planting seeds of faith and helping learners grow in their love for God and His Word. We’re so thankful to have her helping our learners grow academically, personally, and spiritually!

💬 Say hello to Mrs. Golden! 🌱

Backpacks. Water bottles. Homework. Shoes. Remembering what you just asked them to do.

Back-to-school season asks A LOT of a child’s executive functioning skills!

Executive functions are the brain skills that help us turn an intention into action. They help children get started, hold information in mind, organize materials, plan what comes next, shift when something changes, and follow a task all the way through.

And here’s the important part: these skills are still developing throughout childhood and adolescence.

So when your child forgets the second step of a three-step direction, stares at their backpack instead of packing it, or needs to be reminded (again!) to put their shoes on, it isn’t always a matter of “They know better.”

Sometimes their brain simply needs more support to organize the steps.

Try this at home:
• Make the invisible visible. Use a simple visual checklist for morning routines, homework, or packing a backpack.
• Give one starting point. Instead of “Go get ready for school,” try, “First, go get dressed.”
• Reduce the load on working memory. If your child consistently forgets multi-step directions, give fewer steps at a time.
• Create predictable homes for things. Backpack. Shoes. Water bottle. Homework. Less searching = less work for the brain.
• Help them think, rather than doing the thinking for them. Try, “What do you need to do next?”

The goal isn’t to remove every challenge for our kids. It’s to give their developing brain enough support that they can practice doing more and more independently.

Strong executive function skills are roots that support attention, learning, independence, and success; both at school and at home!

Thank you Ms. Amy, our wonderful OT, for this tip of the month! 💙

On the twelfth day of Christmas Ignite gave to me...

Day 12 — Dreams Igniting

Most schools prepare kids for college at 18 — we prepare them for life at 40.

We want our students to be men and women of integrity, purpose, and faith — people who live out their God-given dreams for the good of others and the glory of His Kingdom.

Fuel the future — help Ignite dreams that last a lifetime.

Our goal: raise $12,000 this Christmas to help Ignite continue to shine brightly for our students, families and community.

On the eleventh day of Christmas Ignite gave to me...

Day 11 — Worship Singing

Each week, more than 100 students lift their voices in chapel, singing to the God who loves them.

We teach our kids to love the Lord above all else — because when our worship is right, our hearts and lives follow. The joy in that room is something you can feel.

Help us raise a generation of worshippers — give today.

Our goal: raise $12,000 this Christmas to help Ignite continue to shine brightly for our students, families and community.
