ECPS Robotics In STEM Education (RISE)-Engineering and Engagement
Our ECPS FIRST Tech Challenge robotics students from W. A. Pattillo Middle School (Tech Titans) and SouthWest Edgecombe (Cyber Cats) had an inspiring Saturday visiting the headquarters of FTC State Champion team, the Bionic Bulldogs - FTC 21502.
Through direct mentorship, students honed their programming skills, worked on robot assembly, and got a close-up look at this year's competition setup.
Special recognition and thanks to the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Student STEM Enrichment Grant for supporting our students and funding opportunities that bring real-world STEM experiences to life!

Earlier today, the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office advised Edgecombe County Public Schools to go into Secure Lockdown Status because of a report they received from a community member regarding a potential threat at a school. No specific school was identified in the threat. All of our schools immediately went into Secure Lockdown Status, and we informed parents by phone and various communication channels. School continued as usual inside buildings.

Later in the afternoon, the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office advised that ECPS could lift the Secure Lockdown Status and return to normal operating procedures. The Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office deemed the threat as "not credible" to Edgecombe County Public Schools.

As always, we appreciate the support of staff, students, parents, and the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office as we worked through the situation this afternoon. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused today, but safety is our top priority, and we must take all security concerns seriously.
