“Cooking, eating, sleeping, every deed of everyday life is nothing else than this Great Matter. Realize this! So we extend tender care with a worshipping heart even to such beings as birds and beasts — but not only to beasts, not only to birds, but to insects too, okay? Even to grass, to one blade of grass, even to dust, to one speck of dust. Sometimes I bow to the dust.”

— Soen Nakagawa, as quoted in One Bird, One Stone: 108 Contemporary Zen Stories by Sean Murphy

Last chance to join Diving Deeper, our new 7-week online meditation program! Learn to meet life as it unfolds with curiosity, courage, and compassion. Enrollments are open for a limited time.

Three times each week, you'll receive a new guided meditation recording delivered directly to your inbox. Practice on your own time in the comfort of your own home — as many times as you’d like. These practices go beyond simple mindfulness. Together, we'll work with practices that cultivate greater embodiment, resilience, and intimacy with our lived experience. Topics include hara practice, susokan and the extended outbreath, felt sense awareness, skillfully working with physical pain, anger, grief, and joy, and conclude with contemplations on death and impermanence. Whether you are relatively new to meditation or have practiced for many years, you’re welcome to join.

Diving Deeper is both a meditation challenge and a summer fundraiser. As many nonprofit organizations face increasing financial challenges, your participation in Diving Deeper helps support Sage's ongoing programs and offerings. Every contribution helps sustain our community and supports the continuation of these teachings. Get started today:https://meditation.thinkific.com/courses/sage-institute-diving-deeper-2026

Applications are now open for the Meditation Leader Training Program 2027, beginning early 2027!

Are you an experienced practitioner who wishes to share meditation and mindfulness skills with others? Do you seek to develop your own voice and authentic leadership? Do you welcome transformational experiences in your own life in order to help guide others on the path?

Through our comprehensive, secular, 9-month online program, open to practitioners from any any contemplative background, you'll gain the skills, confidence, and wisdom to effectively and authentically teach meditation. Guided by Lead Teacher Sean Tetsudo Murphy, Sensei (Zen White Plum Asanga), Sage Institute's program is one of the only meditation teacher training programs backed by a 2500-year old Buddhist lineage.

Sage Institute's Online Meditation Leader Training Program teaches you more than simple meditation techniques — you'll learn the science of meditation, its rich history (including experiential knowledge of contemporary modalities such as MBSR), how to work with difficult emotions in meditation, issues of inclusivity, social change, and trauma-sensitivity, leadership skills such as consulting with students, curriculum and class ideas, and much more. Our intention is to offer depth to the modern mindfulness movement.

We offer a high-contact, transformational structure:
- Small, intimate cohort size
- Close connection with lead teachers, mentors, and peers
- Twice monthly live classes over Zoom
- Twice monthly self-paced modules
- 1-on-1 quarterly coaching sessions with Sean Tetsudo Murphy
- Peer group meetings and mentor meetings 1-3 times per month

Koren participated in a variety of activities: weeding a cemetery and planting tulip bulbs with County Parks and Recreation, breakfast twice at OUR Center (a community resource center) in Longmont, and assisting with a mobile laundry service in Loveland by folding laundry.

She concluded that community care is ongoing and never fully “done.” Yet, it is deeply meaningful when met with , , and a willingness to show up again and again.
