Webinar: "Electric Fence and Rotational Grazing Options for Small Acreage Properties" with Will Jaremko-Wright with the NMSU Taos County Cooperative Extension Service & 4-H Program. This presentation will offer an introduction to electric fencing principles and types, with a focus on implementing rotational grazing for small acreages with sheep, goats, chickens and other small livestock. Presentation will cover common electric fence issues, tools and installation tips. Temporary electric fencing systems are a great tool for flexible land stewardship at any scale. Join us Wednesday May 13th for this workshop on Piñon pests and diseases and other common tree pests. Victor Lucero, Forest Health Specialist with New Mexico State Forestry will have specimens and examples of galleries. We'll discuss how to diagnose problems and practical treatment options. Wonderful to go over the Tusas mountains to present about the roles of beavers in upland watershed hydrology and methods for beaver coexistence strategies for irrigators with our partners at Alianza Agri-Cultura de Taos Amigos Bravos and our wonderful host Sage Faulkner at Chama Peak Land Alliance and the Upper Chama Soil & Water Conservation District.

Taos County Extension Agent Will Jaremko presents on Beavers and their role in watershed health.

Calling Master Gardener Recruits! Taking applications through the end of the month! This is the most comprehensive course you can without leaving the county on home gardening, landscaping and tree care!
The Master Gardener program is taught through New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service. Each chapter is taught by an expert in that field. The lectures are online and asynchrnonous, so flexible for your time.
We here in Taos County additionally do in-person field trips and meetups every other Tuesday through the course timeframe. I (Will, your county agricultural agent) usually give a rundown on local taos geology, soils in taos county, and then we do field trips to local experts' growing operations to learn from people right here in the community.
All that for $150, it's a good deal. Contact the Taos County Cooperative Extension office for more details.
Accepting applications through January 31st, 2026.
Our first in-person meetings will be first week of February.

We gave a talk to the Taos County Historical Society this Fall on a history of Taos Agriculture and changes that have occured. Might be fun if you're into that kind of thing - history, agriculture, and Taos county!
