Grandma Camp by Grandma Jan

Being an OT for 36 years has taught me a LOT about communication, but probably the biggest thing is how to listen.
And I don’t mean just being quiet while somebody else is talking. 😂
Sometimes being a good grandma means listening to our adult kids without immediately jumping in with what WE think they should do.

I’m still working on it too. 😂💜

I had an idea of what being Grandma was going to look like… and so did my daughter. 😂 Turns out, they weren’t exactly the same.

That’s when I started learning how important communication really is, not just with our grands, but with their parents too.

I think this is something we grandparents need to talk about more. 💜

Back-to-school gives us grandmas another chance to stay connected to our grandkids’ world. 💜

Not by taking over. Not by stepping on Mom and Dad’s toes.

Just by showing up, asking better questions, listening, and letting those kids know Grandma is interested in the little everyday things too.
