Ruth’s List Florida is heartbroken by the loss of Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer, a trailblazing leader and a fierce advocate for women.

As the first Black and Haitian American woman elected to the Coral Springs Commission, Nancy made history when she first won office in 2020 and continued breaking barriers, including as Vice Mayor. Ruth’s List was proud to support Nancy when she ran for office because it was clear from the start that she was exactly the kind of leader Florida needs: brilliant, values-driven, and deeply committed to her community.

Nancy brought a remarkable depth of experience to public life, from environmental justice and disaster response to public health, sustainability, and local governance. She believed in building stronger, more resilient communities, amplifying marginalized voices, and creating a better future for Coral Springs.

Ruth's List Florida is holding Nancy's family, loved ones, and the entire Coral Springs community in our hearts.
