The 2nd edition of Patient Handling and Mobility has finally been published!!! I was the primary author of the 1st edition published in 2010. The focus is incorporation of patient care ergonomics in healthcare facility design and construction, but it's more than that too. It includes information on why 'safe patient handling and mobility' (SPHM) technology and design should be found in hospitals and other healthcare facilities and the book provides information on how to successfully implement and maintain SPHM programs in healthcare facilities. The VA had such a SPHM program and it resulted in a 50% decrease in the rate of nursing injuries! There's also information on developing and using cost benefit analyses to facilitate organizational SPHM program implementation.
