LADIES!! Has Dieting Ruined Your Metabolism? I KNOW IT HAS AND IT INFURIATES ME!

I’m writing this because it’s long overdue. I’ve watched this for 3 decades and it continues to get worse. Millions of women continue to suffer because they’ve been programmed to believe that quick weight loss is the solution to good health and looking good.
I’m going to tone this down rather than go off as to what I really think. Maybe in future posts I’ll let loose. Anyway….

Have you ever tried — or wanted to try — to lose weight by doing something a little more extreme? Whether it’s a radical diet, fasting, cleansing, or juicing, these types of weight loss programs tend to be successful in the short-term – which is what makes them popular. But (and hopefully this will dissuade you) they don’t have a positive effect on metabolism — which is what you want for weight loss — and are harmful in the long run.

LONG TERM AFFECTS
Weight loss from these extreme methods is due to the breakdown or loss of lean body tissue. This means your body is breaking down muscle to give your body energy. Just because the number is going down on the scale doesn’t mean your body composition is changing. Yeah you've lost weight but look like hell because your body has no shape, feels soft, mushy and has hanging stretched out skin in some areas.

Dieting, fasting, cleansing, and juicing may contribute to uncomfortable and potentially dangerous side effects like fatigue, irritability, cravings, and headaches in less severe cases. Caloric restriction may also lead to decreased immunity, hormonal disruption and making it harder for the body to fight infections and illness.

Plus, in the long run, the majority of people who lose weight using these methods regain it all back. Statistics show that about one to two out of three people who go on a diet and lose weight regain more weight over the next four to five years than they initially lost.

REBOUND EFFECT
There definitely is a rebound effect after the diet ends. Rebound weight refers to the weight someone gains after losing weight through dieting. This is seen in scientific studies and in everyday practice.

The mind wants to lose weight, but the body tries to fight it because there’s an energy deficit, which is a war between the mind and the body’s physiological needs. No matter what the cause of the weight loss, the body sees it as if you are starving and will adjust your metabolism in an attempt to keep your weight within your ‘set point’ range. Just like a thermostat adjusts to keep the temperature the same.

Because extreme dieting promotes the wrong kind of weight loss via mostly fluid losses, water weight is quickly regained once the diet is over. To make matters worse, after extreme dieting, appetite is increased and CRAVINGS soar, making it even harder to stay on track commonly resulting in weight gain.

IMPACT ON METABOLISM
Would you be shocked to learn that none of these methods affect metabolism in the way you want? Staying on an extreme diet will negatively impact your metabolism in the long run because your body senses the effect of starvation and protects itself by slowing your metabolic rate. This slowed metabolic rate will in turn make weight loss more of a challenge.

WOMEN AT RISK
The experts agree that women are more likely to resort to extreme lengths to lose weight. Not only are they held to a higher standard in terms of their weight, but self-esteem and a heightened awareness of body image promote cultural pressures and bias that affect women disproportionately. Therefore, the focus on achieving a desired goal weight creates higher levels of desperation and a greater willingness to believe false claims or dangerous promises of weight loss outcomes that fad diets offer.

Roughly 50 percent of women and 25 percent of men in the U.S. are currently on a diet. More damning is that 85 percent of people using weight loss products and services are women.
Weight control is a lifetime journey. There is no easy way, no magic diet or magic pills. Diet, exercise. mindset, supplementation, and hormone balance are the most important factors.

The "Challenge" I encounter the most is, the false programming of low calorie, quick weight loss solutions that women often hold onto tightly. Some open themselves to the science available that suggests that eating more not less is the only way to optimize the metabolism, live healthier and control their weight. Others don't and that's a CATASTROPHE that has been fueled by the weight loss greed for putting money above health.

I see some really exciting progress from those who are logging their weight and posting pictures every week on www.bryandaskam.fitclients.com. Good weight loss so far. I will not fail you. Just keep doing the things I told you to do. If there comes a point where your weight loss plateaus and you are doing as directed it means I have to give you more food. Don't fight me on this damn it! Trust me...it's what I here for and doing this for. Don't get left behind and don't miss a step. Those who are due for ordering supplements make sure you stay the course and allow a few days for them to come in so you don't run out. Remember the Big 3? Oh yeah supplements were part of that. Again, don't complicate this...If you're not doing what I told you to do then get out. Yes, I'm getting tough! Some of you push me there but it often
works. You don't want to see me pi**ed off so do what you're supposed to do!

I want to thank those of you who are logging and putting pictures and weight in on the fit clients site. I'm getting a better feel for this process and I need your help to help me figure out this way of coaching more people at once.
