Frank Shamrock discovering the power of wrestling.

Credit:

Frank Shamrock shares the story of his toughest and most unexpected training experience.

While working on his grappling, Shamrock recalls getting slammed on his head by a high school wrestler — a moment that forced him to rethink his approach to wrestling and combat.

He explains how experiences like that shaped his development, helping him understand the power of wrestling and the importance of constantly learning from others, no matter their level.

The conversation also touches on his time training with elite fighters like Maurice Smith and how those sessions pushed him to evolve.🔺👊🏽

Tag someone that needs to level up their pull out game.

If you don’t shoot deep enough, don’t stop wrestling.

Most wrestlers give up the second their shot gets stuffed. They accept the stalemate or, worse, they let the other guy get the go-behind.

The Maverick Mindset is about realizing that a failed shot isn’t the end of the move—it’s just the beginning of the scramble.

In this video, I’m showing you exactly how to keep the action going:
1️⃣ Post the hand & Knee slide: Create a frame so they can’t collapse your shoulder.
2️⃣ Big step & Shrimp away: Use your hips to create space and find a new angle.
3️⃣ Attack the head & Go behind: Turn their defense into your offense.

This applies off the mat, too. In life and in your mental health journey, you’re going to “shoot shallow” sometimes. You’re going to mess up or hit a wall. The people who win aren’t the ones who never fail—they’re the ones who have the tools to keep moving when the first plan falls apart.

Don’t accept the stalemate. Keep sh*****ng. Keep fighting for the angle.

Do you have this technique in your toolbox?

Credit:

Elite shot defense once they’re in 🔐

The shot isn’t over yet.
Run your feet backward.

Stay heavy with your hips.
Hands fight for control the whole time.

No stopping your feet.
No reaching.

When you keep moving,
you break their position and take over.
