Half-white privilege When it comes to identity, I can frame myself two radically different ways: I am a gay person of color on a large amount of financial aid, and I am a white male legacy student at Duke. For the past few weeks, I’ve been using this app called .me . It enables you to enter and track what you are grateful for on the daily. It also allows you to create affirmations which remain at the top of the screen—here are a few of mine. It’s important to write them in the present tense so as to attract the energy that is readily available to you (re: The Secret). These statements affirm how I feel about myself, my career, and my relationships.
