Last night was our annual senior capstone event, “smART Night,” celebrating our incredible Creative Titans of Tampa Bay Technical High School.

Our seniors have spent the last few months preparing, refining, and selecting the best of their artwork to create dynamic portfolios that showcase their growth, creativity, and dedication. This event is always more than just a grade; it is a celebration of their journey, their talent, and the next chapter ahead. They began the evening by setting up the lab for nearly 400 guests that attended.

This year was extra special as we were able to host the event in our newly updated art lab, made possible through our district and state finances. Our lab update was by the amazing team at AAA Restoration & Builders, LLC. All new furniture from our friends at Virco. Their work has helped create a more modern, welcoming, and inspiring space for our students to learn, create, and grow.

We are also extremely grateful for the generous donations and support from the African & Latino Heritage Club of Valencia Lakes and A1 Windows & Doors. Their contributions helped make this event even more meaningful for our students and program.

It was great having so many talented judges, community partners, and alumni return to support our seniors. Seeing former Creative Titans come back to encourage the next generation made the night even more special our newly designed lab.

A huge thank you also goes out to our culinary students along with Dr. J for the food they got ready along with TBT’s PTSA Group, and Deputy Lucius for providing such a great Photo Booth area for everyone to enjoy.

Parents, friends, families, alumni, judges, staff, and community supporters all came together to celebrate the hard work and creativity of our seniors. It was another great and emotional night as the 2025-2026 chapter begins to close.

Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, donated, judged, helped, and believed in our students. We could not have done this without you.

Next up… final exams & graduation.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our CA3 (sophomore) students this past week.

Miguel Perez-Vielma.

Miguel was one of the kindest and most creative students in our program. He made a lasting impact on both his classmates and teachers, and he will be deeply missed by the entire CAA community.

CAA is doing everything we can to support Miguel’s family during this incredibly difficult time. His family has created a GoFundMe page to help with expenses and support them as they grieve.

If you are able to help in any way, your support would be greatly appreciated. The link to the GoFundMe page, along with the family’s message, is shared below.

Thank you for keeping Miguel’s family in your thoughts.

Hello family and friends,

With broken hearts, we share that our beloved Miguel passed away yesterday. His passing has left a deep sorrow in his family and in all of us who were fortunate enough to know him.

We have created this GoFundMe to help support his family with part of the medical expenses, cremation, and funeral services, which came unexpectedly during such a difficult time.

Any donation, no matter how small, will be a great help and is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please help by sharing this campaign and keeping Miguel’s family in your prayers.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, love, and solidarity during this painful time.

Our Junior and Senior Art Academy Club (AAC) members spent the day this past week, exploring The Florida Aquarium, gathering reference photos, sketching everything from stingrays to shark silhouettes, and finding inspiration in every corner.

This field trip wasn’t just about having fun; even tho they definitely did… it was about fueling creativity, studying movement, texture, color, and form in real life. Their photos and sketches will become part of upcoming class projects and personal artwork.

Huge thank you to The Florida Aquarium for an unforgettable experience for our Creative Titans
