Starting this Thursday, and running September 24, 2026, Portico Café will be having an Appreciation Breakfast Series for Local Heros. That means our firefighters, police officers, EMS workers and transit workers.

Please promote this opportunity to your first responder, EMS and transit worker friends.

The Portico always does an amazing job of investing in our community through Christian love and empathy. They are good people.

🎬 And the spotlight shines on Brewster’s Ida S. Baker Educator of the Year… Ms. Amparito Hernandez! 🎬

Cue the applause as Ms. Hernandez makes her grand entrance down the red carpet! 🌟❤️

As both a dedicated Program Advisor and an inspiring ESOL instructor, Ms. Hernandez wears many hats and she wears them all with grace, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to student success.

When asked what makes her classroom so special, her answer was simple: “community and building relationships in the classroom.” She believes that building meaningful relationships and creating a welcoming environment empowers her students to learn, grow, and achieve their goals.

Busy? Absolutely. Loved by her students? Without question!

🐾 Meet Yogi… our beloved Brewster celebrity! 💙
While everyone was busy during Preplanning training, Yogi was making sure the staff remembered to take stretch breaks. 🐶 His “Downward Dog” yoga pose was absolutely paw-fect!

Yogi is more than our campus mascot—he’s the dedicated service dog and loyal partner to our visually impaired GED instructor, Sean. Every day, he works hard, brings smiles, and reminds us all that a little kindness (and a good stretch!) goes a long way. ( and maybe a bone or two 🦴)

We’re so happy to have Yogi back on campus, greeting familiar faces and making Brewster an even brighter place. ❤️
