Here are our winners from HCTE’s writing contest. They represented 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in the poetry and fiction categories.

Proud of our 8th grade F.L.A.W.L.E.S.S (Fabulous Ladies Achieving With Learning Environments Showing Leadership for Success) girls for inspiring little minds through letters. Bear Buddy letters were delivered to our 1st graders at one of our feeder schools.

Patti Sanchez, a deaf Senior Employment Specialist at MacDonald Training Center for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, spoke to the Expanded Core Curriculum class.

Mr. Neeley's 6th and 7th period 8th grade Language Arts classes made significant gains on their rewrites compared to their baseline writing assessment after 1 month of writing instruction and writing conferences. Five students scored a 10 which is the highest possible score. His 8th grade Language Arts classes consist of students with learning disabilities, students that went from 6th to 8th grade through the STEP program this past summer and regular education students.
