Remember Farmworkers at your table this Thanksgiving:
> Did you know that in North Carolina a farmworker needs to pick and haul 125 buckets of sweet potatoes (two tons) to make $50? That nearly 5 out of 10 farmworker households in NC cannot afford enough food for their families? That farmworkers endure the highest rate of toxic chemical injuries and skin disorders of any workers in the country?

> Did you know that poultry workers are injured five times more than other workers, with companies increasing line speeds, failing to provide rest breaks, providing inadequate medical care to injured workers, underreporting incidents of injury and illness, and denying responsibility for workers who become injured or disabled?

> Did you know that in U.S. agriculture, a staggering 4 in 5 women are estimated to suffer sexual harassment and assault on the job?

A little recap to September!

During this time, we collected donations after the hurricane to send to the town of Immokalee, which is populated by a large number of farmworkers.
With that being said, we want to thank everyone that donated to this cause. We especially want to thank those that were there to help sort and package it all, couldn't have done it without you! We are pleased to say that all of these donations were given to families in need in that area. Some were still without power, while others had lost everything including their homes at the time. With this collection, we were able to donate canned foods, water, blankets/pillows, toiletries, and lots of clothes that aided these people during their recovery period. So once again thank you for lending a hand to those that put food on our tables!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by for some free OJ at the library on Monday 🍊! We’ll be giving out more free goodies (with a side of knowledge) in the upcoming semester, so keep an eye out! 🤘🏼

Our student organization META at USF, will be collecting donations to deliver to Immokalee next week. These can be dropped off at the CAMP office in HMS 206 all next week, as well as to our president Nancy or any of the other eboard members!

One of the organizations we hope to work with this year. Very inspiring what they do for the farmworker community!
