The Mathnolia Classroom

Coming up with creative ideas for math lessons aren’t always the easiest…thats why I love - As an extension activity for Mean, Median, Mode and Range, my kids participated in a Skittle Challenge, finding all data, and sharing that data with a partner then with groups to create even larger data collections. With all the data collected, they ended the lesson by creating line plots at the end! It was super hands on and the kids LOVED it! 🌈

One of my favorite STEM units to teach is our Space Unit! The kids have been learning about the planets in our Solar System! Today’s activity was a cut & paste with photos of the planets, the order that the planets are in, as well as [fun] facts about the planets!

loved loved loved hosting a PD session on - I took my favorite activities from the 5-6 break out rooms and shared it with all of my coworkers (3rd-8th grade teachers) It wasn’t the full experience as GYTO, but they got a little taste of it! Confetti, music and all!

If there’s one thing I truly pride myself in, it’s leadership. I’ve been the Team Lead for 5th grade for the last 5 years and absolutely love it! Taking charge, making decisions, communicating & representing my team and fully supporting/backing my team are a few things I truly enjoy about being the Team Lead. I love & appreciate that had this backdrop because it believe it’s so important to know what your strengths are inside and outside of the classroom!

Day 4 went by way too fast, and that’s probably because it was filled with purpose, laughter, inspiration and so much more. The keynote speakers never cease to amaze me. I was incredibly touched by and stories today, will hold their their stories close to my heart & will remember that I need to be the love, support, acceptance and inspiration for my students each and every day.

Thank you .in.5th for being such an amazing friend, teacher and note taker! I will forever be jealous of your handwriting and note taking skills 😂 you ready for round 2 of nationals!? Dallas babyyyy

Day 3 at & it just keeps getting better!! I continue to meet the coolest teachers, learn & take home some pretty amazing tools, and listen to the most inspirational speakers [ ] just to name a few! So beyond grateful for this opportunity, and am already thinking about next years event!

Day 2 was UNREAL! I learned new techniques for the classroom, danced, sang, laughed & cried all in one day. The amount of time, thought and effort that the speakers pour into their sessions and keynotes don’t go unnoticed!

to say the first day at was a blast is an absolute understatement. Looking forward to tomorrows sessions and continuing to make more connections with some amazing teachers with similar passions as me!
