In addressing a new phenomenon of minors adjudicated as adults who lack any viable skills creating the perfect candidate to fill the jails draining our recourse we need in the land of the free. In our many years of deterring youth from deviance with an entrepreneurial spirit, we hire "THE AT RISK". We equip them with sales skills through enhancing their vocabulary. We are poets and the use of language as "descriptions of what we see" is paramount, as we discover that the power of language is a viable deterrent when combined with the opportunity to make money.
We currently have over 20 candidates to help cadets experiencing that success. All cadets are required to increase their
vocabulary to enhance their sales efforts, showing them an immediate financial reward due to self improvement. We encourage being familiar with other languages to expand the cadets horizons introducing the cadet to globalization creating a better relationship with our culturally diverse community. We hope to expand to the Hyde Park, Davis island and North Tampa areas in the effort to fund the summer program.
One of young offenders arrested for ma*****na sales And possession stated it best. “Hustlin’ is hustlin’ it don’t mater what you sale; sellin’ roses I don’t even got to hide from the police.” as he scoffed. We would appreciate in the purchasing of flowers from our potential candidates to promote self esteem and independence. Our candidates will be labeled with name tags and if any problem presents itself you call us and it will be reconciled immediately. We would appreciate your support and blessing in our commitment against social ills

Youth Organization Wants To Provide Free Computers

BY LEON B. CREWS
Sentinel Staff Writer

For more than two decades, Sanford Harper, Jr. has been trying to work with area youth through his Pure Poets Society and other youth programs.
Harper, also known as Dr. San Man, wants to target youth with families in need of a computer in an effort to put the technology in homes that otherwise couldn’t afford a computer.
“I’m launching a campaign called ‘Poetry With A Purpose’ to ask people with old or used laptop or tower computers to donate them for our computer mentor program where at risk youth learn to rebuild the computers so they can be redistributed to the winner of an annual poetry contest hosted by the Pure Poets Society.
“Anyone who wants to drop off an old computer can do so at 1704 ½ 7th Avenue, upstairs at Habibi’s Ho**ah, or at 1632 East 7th Avenue.”
The Pure Poets Society is offering a county wide poetry competition targeting the at risk youth with the topic, “Wildlife Preservation versus Industrialization.”
“We have three age categories (6-11, 12-15 and 16-18) in hopes of giving away 9 desktop computers or notebooks for contestants that meet the requirements,” said Dr. San Man.
All entries need to be turned in by November 20th and submitted to [email protected]. Contestants may enter the contest through expression of poetry, essay, song, dance, and performing skits on stage, or painting mosaic art portraits.
“Encouraging the youth is our main priority,” said Dr. San Man.
“Our representatives are highly motivated individuals seeking to make improvements within the urban community.”
