Wrapping up our Civil Rights tour as we head into Tampa. The past 8 days with these HS learners has been full. Full of learning, joy, sorrow, laughs, self reflection, and mostly a time to face part of our country’s history that sometimes feels really removed.

As our High Schoolers travel to the final city of our end of the year trip, I thought I’d share some of our experiences. This was a Civil Rights tour and began in Memphis. We have traveled to Selma, Montgomery, Tuskegee, Auburn, Prattville, and now to Birmingham. We’ve experienced a lot. It’s been challenging at times, but we’ve also had some really enjoyable times too! These learners are pretty amazing….

BPS Families and Friends….
As many of you already know, Vivian Capote, Gianni’s mom, passed away last weekend. Her loss is unimaginable for her beloved Gianni and David.

A Celebration of Life honoring Vivian will be held Sunday, February 22, 2026, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Boza & Roel Funeral Home, located at 4730 N. Armenia Ave.

Immediately following the celebration, we welcome her BPS friends and family to come together in honor and memory of Vivian. All in our community, past and present, who knew and loved Vivian are welcome to come and be together and remember.

We will have an open house at Kim’s home following the service until 6pm. 4022 S. West Shore Blvd.
