Grad students, do you know how many decisions are made by student government each year on your behalf? It is election time! You have until Thurs (2/19) at 8 pm to cast your vote. You may want to e-mail the candidates and ask them how they can increase the discourse between grads and undergrads so that more grad issues are addressed.

We have many survivors around us; people with whom we work beside and interact.
Here is one such story: As a child, I had what was then called ‘scarlet fever’, but probably was rheumatic fever. Through time, I developed a murmur that became progressively more persistent and noticeable, although I didn’t have a lot of the other symptoms, but one day running from one building to another due to a thunderstorm I went to atrial fibrillation and ended up in the Emergency Room. At that point, it became very clear that something needed to be done, and right away. So, surgery was scheduled, and I underwent mitral valve replacement and now have a mechanical valve that lets me tick like a Swiss watch. Thankfully, I did it because the surgeon said I was extremely close to heart failure. Since that time, I’ve been trying to walk at least 7 miles a day and just doing what I can to be healthy.
