Special congratulations to our Commencement Award recipients and speakers! Hadley Almon and Trey Klatt received the Scholarship Award, tied for highest GPA across 6th-8th grade. Max Ruble received the Faculty Award, Trey Klatt received the Student Award, Frankie Gorab received the Head of School’s Award, and Camille Lee received the Faith & Values Award. Frank Brawley was outstanding as the elected class speaker, and Anna Kate Bertozzi, Hayden Davitt, and Olivia Lastra each did a great job with their presentations. We are so proud of the Class of 2026! ⚜️ ⚜️ ⚜️

We are so grateful when St. Mary’s Alums enroll their family’s next generation of Saints! At this year’s Commencement we celebrated seven legacy graduates ~ John and Jake ’92 Nellis, Tim and Rosemary Williams ’x98 Anderson, Nina and Joe ‘x90 Marshburn, Hadley and Caroline Annis ‘94 Almon, Alexis and Jay ‘90 Annis, Sophia and Drei ‘97 Ulm, & Pierce and David ‘94 Brightwell. Congratulations to our all of 2026 graduates and their families! ⚜️ ⚜️

BINGO!  Our 1st and 4th Grade Chapel Buddies had an absolute blast teaming up for a fun-filled morning math review.  Lots of learning, loving and leading ~ looks like a new SMEDS tradition is here!

Nate ‘32, Jace ‘33, and Preston ‘33 won the championship with their team, the LASH, in the Bauer Hockey Tournament in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada this weekend! They went undefeated in their five games, winning the championship 5-4 in overtime. Their assistant coach, Charles Garon, is a SMEDS alum, Class of 2018! Congratulations, boys! ⚜️

These Saints joined us along the way, but are just as special and will be equally missed as the Class of 2026 graduates this week! ⚜️ ⚜️

The future of Saints’ Softball is looking bright, as these second grade Saints are all 8U Tampa Bay All Stars! Let’s go Nola, Caroline, Carlyle, Elyse, Marlena, and Sullivan!

Congratulations to all of our honorees at our Annual Sports Banquet! We’re proud of all of our student-athletes, and send special congratulations to this year’s major award recipients: Nina M., Athlete of the Year; Hadley A., Academic Athlete of the Year; Ella R., Camille L., and Brennan M., Sportsmanship Award; Frank B., Academic Athlete of the Year; and Trey K., Athlete of the Year.
We are also thrilled to announce the inception of the St. Mary’s Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame, and our first honoree, Ashley Mullis Bassler ‘88! Ashley began her volleyball career at St. Mary’s, helped her Berkeley Prep high school team win four straight state titles, played college ball at the University of Florida, then played professional volleyball in Belgium. Among her high school and college accolades ~ All County, All Conference, All State, All American, Tribune and Times Player of the Year; All SEC, SEC Academic Honor Roll, All American, Olympic Festival participant, and many more! Ashley was also named to Tampa’s All-Century team, recognizing the top 100 athletes among all sports for the 20th century. She is amazing and we are so grateful she is a St. Mary’s Alumna, teacher, and coach! (And how fun to have Ashley’s husband, Brad; son, Burke SMEDS’22; and daughter, Adaleah SMEDS’23 with us for this exciting moment!) ⚜️
