Parents As Teachers is a program of Champions for Children, funded by the Children's Board of Hillsborough County and United Way.

Parents as Teachers is an evidence-based home visiting program that promotes positive parent child interactions, developmental centered parenting and family well-being. Parents As Teachers is an internationally recognized early childhood parent education and family support program. Certified Parent Educators provide in-home parent education and family support to families throughout pregnancy until

their child enters first grade. By helping parents understand what to expect during each stage of development, parents can easily capture the teachable moments in everyday life to enhance their child's language development, intellectual growth, social development and motor skills. PAT believes that parents are their children's first and most influential teacher and provides them with the tools necessary to be successful at the most important "job" they will ever have. He and his mom 👩‍👦 enjoy learning together through 📚 reading, 🔺 sorting colors and shapes, and 🧩 building fine motor skills with puzzles and blocks. These fun activities help build confidence, support development, and encourage school readiness 🎒✨.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program helps bring holiday joy to children and families in need. Through the generosity of our community, children receive gifts, clothing, and other items to help make the season a little brighter.

September is apple season, making it the perfect time to explore, play, and learn together. Let your child help wash apples, count them, sort them by color, or describe how they look, smell, and taste. These simple activities build early math, language, and science skills while creating special family memories.

🐾🍦 What a sweet way to wrap up our Ruskin Ice Cream Group Connection! Families enjoyed a cool treat, time together, and a very special visit from a therapy dog. Our little ones loved meeting their furry friend while practicing gentle touches, communication, and social skills.

At Parents as Teachers, we know that positive experiences with animals can help children build confidence, empathy, and emotional connections. Thank you to all the families who joined us for this fun-filled afternoon. We loved seeing so many smiles, laughs, and new friendships made! 💙🐶🍨

Today's pictures feature a family working on developing scissor skills! While cutting may seem like a simple activity, it supports many areas of a child's development.

When children practice cutting, they are strengthening the small muscles in their hands and fingers that are needed for writing and other self-help skills. They are also building eye-hand coordination and using muscles throughout their entire body to stabilize and control their movements.

Through activities like cutting, children connect cognitive skills, language development, and social-emotional growth as they learn to focus, follow directions, solve problems, and gain confidence in their abilities. Small snips today help build big skills for tomorrow! ✂️💙
