We have mentioned how the letter “e” is a vowel that has many jobs, but did you know that the vowel “a” has 5 different sounds in the English language?

Did you know that “J” was the last letter to be added to the English alphabet? 🧐

Getting ready to celebrate America 250 this summer!! We are starting early- with letter writing skills. Each student choose a state to write to and request information in order to learn more about what they have to offer. The letters are on their way!! Crossed fingers that we get some replies.

Summer break is almost here…and while every child deserves rest and fun, it’s worth knowing that students can lose up to two months of reading progress over the summer.

For a child who has been working hard to build her reading skills, that setback can be really discouraging.

The good news is that it doesn’t take much to prevent it.

A consistent daily session can protect all the progress your child has made and even help her keep growing.

Students don’t jump straight to understanding books. Comprehension develops across many layers.

Readers draw on different kinds of knowledge as they make sense of text. They use knowledge of word meanings, knowledge of how sentences work, and knowledge about the topics and ideas in the text. All of these work together while students read.

That’s why background knowledge matters so much. The more students know about words, language, and the world, the easier it is for them to make sense of what they read.
