Tampa Spartan Cross-Country Team

This past weekend we had a split squads in Washington University in St. Louis and UCF.
Mostly dominated by distance people having a great racing weekend. But one runner shinned like crazy this weekend.
At UCF JACOB KHASHOU almost had a hat trick. He took back his 100m record and lowered it to 10.58 while just missing his 200m record by .02 running 21.71 and off course a part of the foursome who lowered the 4x100m record for the 3rd time down to 41.37.

USF alumni invite only a few runners competed but a 16 years old record finally goes down as sophomore Hannah Deite break Jessica Butler 1500m by 1/2 of a second. A new time of 4:28.53 and a provisional marker for NCAA!

As the 2026 track season is now in full swing we have had two home meets and one meet at Embry Riddle.
We have had 3 school records on the men's side in the sprints.
Many PRs and incredible performances.

Season wraps up with Tampa women finishing 25th overall at NCAA Division 2.

2025 South Regional Cross Country Championships in Lakeland, FL.. 11/8/2025...
While the time changed a week ago, the temperatures were hot and with a 10K running at 8:35am only after changing the clock makes it basically 9:35am.
Anyway the women started at 7:40am and it was a tight race between 4 teams. Palm Beach Atlantic pulled out a win by 1 point over Lee. Then Tampa was third 10 points back and 8 ahead of the 4th place Mississippi College team. The Spartans placed 4 in the top 25 for all regions honors and were led by Lindsay Volkman with a 6th place finish and time of 21:43.

On the men's side, the Spartans finished 6th with 171 points. They were led with two top 25 finishers in Sophomore William Poe 15th overall and a time of 32:31 (4th individual). and Ayden Estevez who was 19th overall in 32:39.

2025 Sunshine State Conference Meet...
The women pulled the 1st place win with a dive finish by Taylor Guthrie to finish 8th overall and change from a tie to a 2 point win. All conference teams were Lindsay Volkman 2nd overall, Camryn Settler 7th, Taylor Guthrie 8th, Hannah Diete 10th, Kara Bergeron 12th, Abby Tudeen 14th.
The men were 4th with a very young team finished 4th. With
Sophomore William Poe 8th, and freshman Elijiah Rivera 10th.

As the 2025 cross country season has began a little updates...
The women are ranked 22nd pre season nationally. The men are ranked 5th in the region and as of this weekend 3rd in the south region.
The first meet a low key meet at Holloway park hosted by Southeastern university. The women ran their 2nd team in the race and won. The men did a tempo test of 5:15 pace as 9 guys came across in 5:14.7-5:15 avg.
The 2nd week the women again only ran their second team up at FSU an open meet hosted by HOKA Knights of Thunder.
The women finished 3rd.
The men traveled to Huntsville Alabama for the Southern Showdown Invite. 48 teams competed and finished 16th right behind Huntsville Alabama who is ranked nationally and 2nd in our region. Zach Kehler almost broke the school record while freshman sensation Elijiah Rivera broke the freshman record in 25:06. Big day out of the Declan Fiorucci PRed by 1:20 to run 25:17 along with team captain Ayden Estevez in 25:17. Freshman Brandon Witherow ended being a 5th runner finishing in 25:36.

Alumni dominate at the Watermelon 5K in Lakeland, FL...
4th overall--Gio Cerisier with a new PR of 15:20. Gabe McConville racing for the first time since the NCAA championships 800m where he ran 1:48.30 (alt. converted) ran 15:37. Meanwhile Cassie Highsmith recently moved back to Tampa and returned to racing with a 19:41 for 2nd overall female.

In Clearwater, FL... Chantalle Blundell won the Freakin Hot 5K over the bridges in 18:09.
In San Francisco, CA... Caleb Belmont won the San Francisco Half Marathon in 1:16.
In Colorado... Lewis Price finished 9th overall in the Never Summer 100k race in 14:52:20.
In texas... Tyler Blackburn finished 3rd in the elite division at the Cypress Tri.

Well Paul Wales already has done 4 or 5 of them in the last 2 years. But he and recent grads Aaron Englehardt and Nate Reffitt completed their first marathon at Grandma's marathon this weekend. After a brief delay for a hail storm the temps climbed to mid 70s.
Aaron finished in 2:36:42
Paul in 2:50.11
and Nate in 2:59.23

On Saturday it was our alumni Shane Cohen making his debut on the pro circuit in Europe.
In Brussell, Belgium... 4th place in the 800m in 1:47.5 as the winner finished in 1:45.3.
In Toulouse, France... 2nd place in the 800m in 1:45.17 as the winner was 1:44.7
Will be racing a 600m in Nice, France.
Then on Tuesday in 800m in Bergen, Norway.
