Academy Prep Graduate Gives Back – Shaping Future Generations
Nyeema Warren, Class of 2023, is entering her senior year at Deerfield Academy. She recently returned to campus to work with our new fifth and sixth grade students on her “Visions into Reality” project.
Nyeema, joined by her mother, Mrs. Warren, created a welcoming and encouraging space for our newest Academy Prep students and their families. Students had the opportunity to think intentionally about their goals, dreams, and what they hope to accomplish as they begin their Academy Prep journey, and then to bring those ideas to life through their vision boards.
Nyeema shared her own experience as a new student and reminded them that the possibilities ahead are truly limitless. It was also wonderful hearing Nyeema and her mother reflect so positively on their Academy Prep experience — especially the guidance, encouragement, and opportunities Nyeema has continued to receive through APT Graduate Support long after leaving our campus. It was a powerful reminder that the relationships we build with our students don't end at eighth-grade graduation — they last a lifetime.
We are incredibly proud of Nyeema for creating Visions into Reality and choosing to give back to the Academy Prep community in such a thoughtful and meaningful way. We look forward to seeing her vision, along with the visions of our newest students, continue to take shape.

THANK YOU! Tampa Bay Rays and the Science of Baseball!

During Academy Prep’s 11th Month Summer Session, students from our St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Lakeland campuses had the incredible opportunity to participate once again in the Science of Baseball enrichment program with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Now in its fifth year, this program has provided Academy Prep students with over 5,000 hours of STEAM-based instruction, blending academics with the excitement of professional sports. Students explored the scientific principles behind the game, like statistics, motion, and engineering, and discovered how classroom learning connects to real-world careers in the sports industry. The program also included a field trip for our students to Tropicana Field where the Rays host a career day panel and treat our studens to a game. These hands-on experiences are invaluable in helping our students envision bright futures and understand how education is the foundation for achieving their goals.

We are deeply grateful to the Rays Baseball Foundation, which annually awards scholarships to all three Academy Prep campuses. Over the past 15 years, the Rays have generously donated over $2 million in scholarship funding, an extraordinary investment in the future leaders of our community.

CAMPUS LIFE! Academy Prep’s 11th Month Summer Session!
As students prepare to head back to school, we wanted to share what makes Academy Prep different.

Did you know our students begin their school year in June?

Each summer, Academy Prep students participate in our three-week 11th Month Summer Session, the official start of the 2026–2027 school year. Students take four academic classes and one enrichment class each week while receiving breakfast and a hot lunch each day.

We were excited to meet our brand new 5th and 6th graders as they begin their Academy Prep journeys, and thrilled to welcome back our returning students who continued to work hard during this extended learning period maintaining a high standard of academics, building leadership skills, and of course having some SUMMER FUN!
We could not offer our summer session without the generous support from the community. Thank you, Conn Memorial Foundation, for making this summer session possible!

The Academy Prep family joins our community in mourning the passing of Brian West.

As Publix’s longtime Community Relations Manager, Brian’s dedication and generosity touched countless lives across our region. A tireless advocate for philanthropy, his unwavering commitment to strengthening communities and expanding opportunities for young people leaves a legacy that will be felt for generations.

Through Brian’s leadership, Publix became an instrumental partner in Academy Prep’s mission, providing steadfast support to our campuses in Lakeland, Tampa, and St. Petersburg, helping open doors of opportunity for deserving students and families across Central Florida. We are deeply grateful for the lasting impact he had on our organization and on the many nonprofits fortunate enough to benefit from his vision and compassion.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Brian’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Publix family during this difficult time.

May his memory continue to inspire acts of kindness, service, and generosity throughout our community.
