Our inaugural USF Emergency Medicine Research Symposium kicked off with an incredible showcase of poster presentations! 🎉 From CPR modifications to resident wellbeing research, our team proved that USF EM continues to advance the field and set the standard in academic emergency medicine. Proud to have such a strong USF EM presence at this past week! Presentations by Dr. Henderson, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Okonkwo, Dr. Kiel (who learned Monday night at 9 PM that he’d be lecturing the very next day!), Dr. Premer, Dr. Patel, and Dr. Weinstein highlighted our program’s commitment to research, innovation, and academic emergency medicine.
Alongside our presenters, USF co-authors and EM team members had a blast at the conference — including bringing home a SonoGames award! Thank you to everyone who represented USF EM so well💚

Check out Dr. Heather Henderson’s publication in this month’s issue of SAEM Pulse! “From Crisis to Connection: Substance Use, Psychosis, and the Emergency Department” was co-authored with Kyra Benowitz on behalf of the SAEM Social Emergency Medicine and Population Health Interest Group. The article explores a practical framework to differentiate between primary and substance-induced psychosis, in addition to evidence based harm reduction and care coordination strategies. Congratulations Dr. Henderson!!🎉👏
