đâď¸ Discovery Studio entered the TVA last weekâŚ
Our exploration of sports heroes took a Marvel-sized turn as the studio transformed into Lokiâs courtroom from the Season 1 premiere.
There was debating.
Role playing.
Accents that got increasingly questionable. đ
But underneath all the fun was something deeper: learners practicing persuasion, public speaking, critical thinking, and seeing multiple perspectivesâall while fully immersed in the story.
Because sometimes the best learning happens when kids donât even realize how much theyâre learning. â¨

đšâ¨ Our Apollo pianists took the stage at their annual Hudson Music recital this weekend, and the growth was undeniable.
A year of practice, perseverance, and patience was reflected in every performance. From first notes to confident performances, these learners showed what steady commitment can build over time.
Way to go, pianists! đđś
âžđ Now we know why thereâs an Al Lopez Park, Al Lopez field, and Al Lopez everything around Tampa. đ
Discovery Studio took their exploration of sports heroes to Ybor City with a visit to the Tampa Baseball Museum at Al Lopezâs childhood home.
Learners got a glimpse into the life of Tampaâs first MLB Hall of Famer and discovered how a local kid from Ybor became one of baseballâs greats.
Because sports history hits a little differently when youâre standing where the story actually began. â¨
At first glance, this looked like a lesson on 3D shapes and geometry. đżđ
But the real lesson?
Patience.
Spark launched with a Socratic discussion about what patience actually feels likeâsticking with something when itâs frustrating, slowing down, focusing, trying again.
Then came the challenge: cube making. đ
And by closing?
Every learner had become a successful cube maker. Not because it was easy⌠but because they stayed with it. â¨
Sometimes the most important learning happening in the studio has nothing to do with the academic subject at all.
Learning looks different here.
Strategy. Reading. Math. Teamwork.
All disguised as play. đ˛â¨
đŚđż From Wow in the World⌠to the real world.
Spark learners took their curiosity on the road to Dinosaur World, bringing everything theyâve been exploring about living things to life.
From spotting prehistoric giants to making connections to what theyâve been learning these past few weeks, it was hands-on, wide-eyed, âwhoa look at that!â kind of learning.
Because when learning is real⌠it sticks. đŤ
đâď¸ Apollo Beach Day did not disappoint.
Waves, sand, sunshine, and all the classic beach funâŚ
plus an unexpected highlightâđŹ dolphins swimming right up close.
From water play to sandy adventures, it was one of those days you wish you could bottle up.
Just a really good day, in a really good place. đ
⨠Collaboration. Curiosity. Confidence.
Spark learners have been in their element this weekâ
working together to build train tracks,
discovering new ways to use STEM tools,
and sticking with challenges even when things get tough.
Because the real magic isnât just what they buildâŚ
itâs who theyâre becoming in the process. đŤ
What if the most important part of sports⌠isnât the sport?
Not the shot.
Not the score.
Not even the win.
But learning how to:
⨠pass to someone in a better position
⨠keep going when itâs hard
⨠include the teammate whoâs still figuring it out
⨠loseâand come back better
Because the truth is, most kids wonât play basketball forever.
But they will spend their lives working on teams, navigating challenges, and showing up for others.
Maybe PE should be less about the game.
And about who you become while playing it. đ
You might miss it⌠if youâre looking in the wrong places.
No test.
No worksheet.
No gold star.
But look closerâ
A young leader confidently guiding a Socratic discussion.
Another learner openly sharing, sharing his experience in asking for help, and owning it with strength.
This is the kind of growth that doesnât always show up on paperâŚ
but shows up everywhere else.
Confidence. Authenticity. Maturity.
Learning that asking for help isnât weaknessâitâs wisdom.
Not victims.
Heroes. đŚâ¨
