We were honored to have the City of Tampa‘s former mayor, Mr. Bob Buckhorn visit our school this week! Through questions and answers on the classroom ‘tours,’ our middle and high school students learned about your career in local government, your perspective on taking action against antisemitism in current events, the use of AI and technology in law enforcement, and local traffic laws and road improvement needs that they noticed in their own communities. Experiences like these provide teens with meaningful opportunities to connect classroom learning with the world around them, engage with civic leaders, and develop a deeper understanding of the issues shaping their city. The former mayor’s visit also connects back to a number of career chats our older students had last school year with different kinds of professionals, including an economist, a social worker, and an engineer! Thank you, Mr. Buckhorn, for coming to Tampa Torah Academy and Tampa Bay Torah High School! We appreciate all you did during your tenure as mayor to build up our great city!
