Announcement: Closing of Evolve Learning Community
After much consideration, I have made the difficult decision to close Evolve Learning Community. This decision has not been easy, but it is necessary due to a combination of personal and professional reasons.
ELC has always been unique in its approach, dedicated to meeting the needs of neurodivergent students in ways that may have been ahead of their time. However, this uniqueness has also made it challenging to find like-minded educators who truly understand our mission and can remain with us long-term. The stress of maintaining this level of excellence, while deeply rewarding, has also been incredibly demanding.
This past year, I faced significant health challenges, including a new cancer diagnosis, which required multiple surgeries and chemotherapy. Balancing these treatments with the demands of running a micro-school became unsustainable, and I believe the overall stress may have even contributed to my diagnosis.
While this chapter is closing, I am incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received from our community over the past decade. To all the families, staff, and supporters who have been part of ELC’s journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
As a way to celebrate and reflect on the amazing journey we’ve had together, I’d like to invite you to our “Last Hurrah” party on Friday, August 23rd, 2024, from 5-7 pm. It will be a time to gather, reminisce, and honor the community we’ve built.
Thank you once again for all the love and support. Your belief in our mission has meant the world to me.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Christina
