Middle School Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminders

**Parents/Guardians, please review the following traffic procedures to help keep arrival and dismissal safe and efficient.**

**Morning Drop-Off**

* Buses will drop off high school students at the middle school cafeteria entrance, then proceed to the middle school cafeteria entrance.
* Parent/guardian vehicles should use the left lane behind the high school/middle school complex and proceed slowly past the buses.
* At the middle school parking lot entrance, vehicles must yield to buses and then cross to the right lane.
* Students should be dropped off at the main entrance. Please pull forward as far as possible to the Student Drop-Off Sign to prevent traffic from backing up.
* Students may not be dropped off in the parking lot. Parents/guardians must remain in the flow of traffic.

**Afternoon Pick-Up**

* Do not park in the Fire Lane.
* Please avoid parking in the first four rows of the parking lot between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., as these are assigned faculty/staff spaces.

**Band Rehearsal Days**
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, parents/guardians should not park in the middle school parking lot due to band rehearsals and the additional traffic in the area.

These procedures are in place to help ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff while keeping traffic moving efficiently.

Just a reminder Open House for TAMS is tomorrow from 6:00-8:00. We are looking forward to the start of a great school year!

Tamaqua Area Middle School will be hosting Open House on Tuesday, August 18th from 6:00-8:00 for the 2026-2027 school year. The middle school welcomes all parents and students to walk through their schedules and meet their teachers at their own pace to orient themselves for the start of another school year.

Parents, please remember this night is structured for orientation and brief introductions from teachers. If a parent wishes to have additional time, please contact the teacher to set up a meeting at another time.

As a reminder, we will be transitioning to using a parent portal through Focus to help parents stay informed district wide on their child's progress. Please remember to complete the form so we can begin the next steps to establish parent portal access.

Just a reminder, tomorrow begins Chromebook and schedule pickup.

To prepare for the beginning of the school year, middle school students may pick up their Back to School packet, chromebook, and chromebook charger on August 11, 12, 13 from 9:00-2:00 and August 12 from 4:00-6:00. Parents and students should enter through the main entrance of the middle school and proceed to the Career Center.

Parents, there will also be an opportunity to provide your information to gain access to the Parent Portal on Focus. Please check this weekly to stay informed on your child's middle school progress. If you have not completed this form, please do so as soon as possible to be ready for access in the new school year.

Important Back-to-School Information

As we prepare for the start of the school year, the Tamaqua Area School District would like to share two important expectations that will be in effect beginning on the first day of school.

Cell Phone Policy
Effective this school year, student cell phones must be powered off and stored in lockers from the start of the school day until dismissal. Cell phone use during the school day will not be permitted. Students who do not comply with this expectation will be subject to disciplinary consequences in accordance with the Student Handbook.

Athletic Bag Storage
Students participating in athletics will be provided with a designated, secure storage area for athletic bags during the school day. Bags may not be carried throughout the school building and must be stored in the designated location until the end of the school day.

These expectations have been established to enhance student safety, minimize distractions, and promote an environment focused on teaching and learning.
