Starting from Day 1, we are keeping the main thing the main thing: high-quality, rigorous texts at the core of ELA instruction. Everything we do centers on that. This week we read "The Difficult Path" by Grace Lin. It's a short story about overcoming obstacles and the power of literacy.

1st assignment for Team 1 math students:
Use a stopwatch to record how long it takes each member of your family to correctly read the following statement:

"How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood, as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood."
You need to report the age (no names) of each participant along with their time,. Use any stopwatch you wish (phone, app, website, watch).
This information will be used throughout our statistical unit to learn the concepts of mean, median, mode, range. And to display data in frequency tables, dot plots, histograms, and box plots.
