- Meet Alanna Rivera, a Behavioral Neuroscience major and Community Ambassador.

Alanna is excited to sharpen her leadership and communication skills at NCSL, as she prepares for a future in medicine.

She hopes to bring those lessons back to FSU by empowering others to lead with empathy and collaboration.

We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026 Women’s Leadership Institute Student Coordinator positions!

Past participants already know how impactful WLI can be. Serving as a student coordinator provides the opportunity to help shape that experience for the next cohort.

Student coordinators play an essential role in ensuring the institute remains relevant, powerful, and deeply meaningful. In this position, you’ll contribute your insight and enthusiasm to the planning committee while gaining hands-on event planning experience, developing transferable professional skills, and building community across the FSU campus.

This is a fantastic opportunity for continued growth and exploration as you further define what it means to be a leader.

- Meet Jaylise Thomas, an Exploratory major and CARE group leader.

Jaylise is looking forward to connecting with student leaders from across the country and learning new ways to build confidence and discipline as a leader.

She hopes to use these skills to create inclusive, motivating spaces at FSU.

- Meet Silvia Rodriguez, a Philosophy and Economics major and a public policy intern.

Silvia is passionate about using leadership to spark real, community-centered change.

At NCSL, she’s excited to learn new ways to lead with purpose and collaboration—and bring that energy back to campus to inspire others to take action.

 Meet Katelyn Palmer, an Editing, Writing, and Media & Communication Studies major and Student Advisor with the Civil Rights Institute.

Katelyn looks forward to growing her confidence as a leader and community-rooted problem-solver at NCSL.

She plans to use what she learns to help create more inclusive, community-centered spaces on campus.

- Meet Alyssa Howell, a Professional Communications major and Health & Wellness Representative with SGC at FSU Panama City.

Alyssa is eager to build connections and gain insight into how leadership can foster positive change in her community.

She hopes to bring those insights back to FSU to empower her peers and organizations.

NCSL2025 - Meet Nathaniel Gates, a Finance and Management Information Systems major and Resident Assistant at Florida State.

Nate is ready to enhance his leadership and communication skills at NCSL to better serve his residents and community.

He plans to introduce new strategies for collaboration and team growth upon returning to campus.

EngageTLH -- Waters of Wakulla Service Tour 🌿💧

The Waters of Wakulla Tour explores the fascinating waterways of Leon and Wakulla Counties.

EngageTLH participants on the Sunday tour learned the importance of protecting storm drains and waterways in Tallahassee from Kellie Keys of , as they developed greater understanding of the direct connections between FSU campus stormwater and Wakulla Springs.

Students also engaged in direct service through a water clean-up at Lake Munson and moved from understanding to sustainable action through direct and indirect service planning and reflection facilitated by EngageTLH facilitators and Community Ambassadors.

We hope to offer another tour through EngageTLH in the spring, but groups of 10 or more with personal transportation can reach out to directly.

- Meet Brent Cerney, a Computer Science major and SGC Senator representing the FSU Panama City student body.

Brent is excited to expand his leadership toolkit at NCSL and learn new strategies for innovation and team success. He looks forward to bringing fresh ideas and connections back to campus.

Grads Made Good - Over 100 graduates of Florida State University have been recognized as Grads Made Good since 1974, a program honoring alumni who have made outstanding contributions in their community or chosen field.

The Center for Leadership & Service is proud to play a role in celebrating the longitudinal leadership commitment among alumni recipients of the Grads Made Good award, which is presented in partnership with the FSU Alumni Association and FSU Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK).

The 2025 honorees recognized for making exceptional contributions in their community or redefining standards within their respective fields include the following:

> James "Chef" Barlow (B.S. '95) is a retired U.S. Air Force fighter pilot and pioneering entrepreneur who transformed military training through innovation and leadership.

>Larry Hogan (B.S. '78) served as the 62nd governor of Maryland from 2015 to 2023. He also served as commander in chief of the Maryland National Guard and chaired the Board of Public Works.

>Eduardo Pérez (B.S. '89) is a marketing innovator, entrepreneur and investor with a career rooted in multicultural strategy and creative leadership.

>Leslie Webber (BSN '99) is director of nursing for pediatric emergency services at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, where she oversees the emergency department, ECMO and Flex Teams.
