June is Cataract Awareness Month and Helen Keller Week (June 28–July 4), a time to recognize the importance of vision health and the legacy of Helen Keller’s advocacy for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
In Florida, that legacy continues through the work of DBS and our partners across the state in supporting independence, access and opportunity.

May is recognized as Healthy Vision and Blind Awareness month. For 85 years, the Florida Division of Blind Services has supported efforts to promote eye health and increase awareness of blindness and visual impairments.
This month, we’re featuring the Blind Babies Program, which supports young children and their families in building the skills and confidence needed for a strong start.

March is Workplace Eye Awareness and Save Your Vision Month. For the last 85 years, The Florida Division of Blind Services has helped support workplace eye health by promoting accessibility, reasonable accommodations and employment practices that benefit both employees and businesses across Florida. DBS supports a wide range of employment needs, whether you are already employed, seeking work, developing skills to enter the workforce, or you’re an employer looking for tools and guidance to retain or hire employees with vision impairments.
